11월의 Rock 음악 두 번째 추천곡은
1970년 11월에 발매된 영국의 록밴드 배드핑거^Badfinger의 Without You입니다.
해리 닐슨^{Harry Nilsson}이 리메이크하면서 더 크게 히트를 친 곡이지만, Badfinger의 원곡으로 소개를 하겠습니다.

저는 이 곡을 서태지와 아이들의 라이브 앨범에서 처음 접했습니다.
어렸을 때 서태지와 아이들을 너무 좋아했던 저는 서태지와 아이들의 앨범이라면 정규앨범뿐만 아니라 라이브 앨범도 다 사서 모았었는데요.
2집 라이브 앨범에서 양현석이 솔로로 이 곡을 부르는 것을 처음 들었던 겁니다.
정말 좋은 곡이라고 생각하고 원곡을 찾아서 듣는다고 생각한 것이 진짜 원곡을 모르고 해리 닐슨 버전을 듣게 되었고(인터넷이 보급화 되지 않았던 시절이었습니다), 한참 후에 중학생 때 우연히 원곡이 Badfinger라는 것을 알게 되었습니다.

저는 해리 닐슨의 버전도 좋지만, Rock보다는 팝에 가까운 해리 닐슨의 버전보다는 Badfinger의 원곡이 더 취향에 맞습니다.
본인들의 곡을 본인들이 연주하고 부를 때에는 히트를 못했는데, 곡을 다른 사람에게 넘기니 그 사람이 대히트를 치는 것을 봐야만 했던 Badfinger의 멤버들, 그리고 이 곡 때문에 결국에는 극단적인 선택을 한 두명의 멤버들을 생각하면 참 슬프게 들리는 곡입니다.

마지막으로 소개할 곡은 퀸^QUEEN의 DON'T STOP ME NOW입니다.
영화 '보헤미안 랩소디'에서 영화가 끝나고 엔딩 크레딧이 올라가면서 나오는 곡이죠.

저는 이 곡을 약 20년 전에 고등학생 때 처음 들었습니다.
그때도 좋아했던 곡이었는데, 영화 보헤미안 랩소디를 본 이후로 예전보다 최근에 더 자주 듣고 있는 곡입니다.
국내 영화 중에서는 송승헌과 권상우가 나왔던 '일단 뛰어'에서도 이 곡이 삽입됐었습니다.

DON'T STOP ME NOW가 수록된 앨범 'JAZZ'도 11월에 발매가 되었기 때문에 11월의 Rock 추천곡으로 소개해봅니다.

Without You를 들으면 초등학교・중학교 때가 떠오르고, DON'T STOP ME NOW를 들으면 고등학교 때의 추억들이 떠오릅니다.
그 시절에 자주 들었던 곡을 오랜만에 들으면 타임머신을 타고 잠시 과거로 돌아가는 것처럼 예전 추억들이 떠오르죠.
음악이 없으면 추억도 없습니다.
